MIA

I haven't posted any new projects and honestly I haven't even done much of anything this past month. We have been preparing for the baby and that means that my house has been in shambles for the past month. We decided to make our guest room the "office/craft room" and the room that was the office/craft room into the baby's room.

So I went and bought paint for the new office, removed all the furniture (gave most of it away), started cleaning out drawers, and Eric painted the room. I stuck with the same color as the old office/craft room. Moving all the office/craft furniture was a bigger project than I thought it would be because I can't help lift furniture. We did get it all done eventually. The living room and dinning room was a disaster with all of my craft stuff. I have so much stuff, and I may as well admit it "I have to much stuff." Yes, I know I can't believe I am admitting it. So I have been donating lots of stuff to my sister's school. Although some of it is still a work in progress we have began on the nursery.

Eric is on vacation this week so he has gotten the nursery painted. Now all we need to do is put up the wall paper boarder. I am ordering the crib and dresser but that will take a couple of weeks to arrive. I have been sorting through all of my baby shower gifts, putting clothes in order of size, taking inventory of how many diapers & wipes we have, and making piles of the other stuff that will need to be put in drawers. It wears me out just thinking about it.

I began making my Thank You cards for the gifts but that too is slowly coming together. I want to get them out by the beginning of next week. So here is to hoping I can get them done before we leave for the weekend with N'Focus Youth Ministries for the annual Youth Retreat. Did I mention we are the youth leaders, yup we are busy people. I am looking forward to a good weekend with the youth. Hopefully it don't get to cold because my coat doesn't button anymore.

Stay tuned for pictures of my November stamp club projects, baby shower invites, shower banner, shower party favors and thank you cards. Be back soon, I promise!

Thankful

Its been a little while since I have blogged but I just hadn't had the time and then I got sick. I still have a little cough but I am thankful to be feeling so much better.

With being sick and having a busy schedule, I just haven't had the time to sit down and create anything. These two projects are from my October Stamp Club.

On this first card I used the stained glass technique. First you emboss your image on Vellum and then you turn over the image and use markers to color your image. When you turn over the image it looks beautiful. This is a simple layout for a card but I wanted the focus to be on the image. I just love this new set from the mini catalog. Thanksgiving is just one of my favorite holidays. What is greater than eating delicious food, spending time with family, and remembering all the things you are so thankful for.

For my second project I created this pop up card. Now I have seen these on www.splitcoaststampers.com many times but never understood how you would give it away if it didn't fit in an envelope. Well after reading the instructions I found out that the card folds down and fits in a regular envelope. So I went to work and created this card. Its all set to be sent to someone for this thankful season.

Well hope you enjoyed my creations, please let me know if you have any questions. Don't forget to check out my website for this week's Deal of the Week!

My Digital Studio

I recently got the My Digital Studio program from SU!, to be honest I wasn't sure I would even like it because I'm not into digital scrapbooking but I thought I would try it out anyway.

This weekend I created these pages from a Disneyland trip last October. I used one of the simply scrapbooking kits that came with the package, some additional stamps, punches, and embelishments. I removed some of the stuff that was automaticly on the premade pages so that it better matched my theme. It was simples and easy to use. Now I need to decide whether or not I want to print these pages out or do I just keep them digitally on my computer. Hmmm.... the choices.

If you have any questions please let me know, I will be happy to answer them.

Holiday Card Class

This past weekend was my Holiday Card Class. We created 10 cards (5 designs, 2 of each) for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The first card was using the Scary Skeleton Stamp Set. I just love the skeleton guy.

This is simple and quick card to make for the Halloween season.

Supplies: Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Whisper White card stock; Pumpkin Pie stripped ribbon; and the Oval Punch and Large Oval Punch.

I have been wanting to purchase the House of Haunts Stamp Set but have yet to purchase it, luckily my Grandma purchased it and she let me use it. Got to love the ability to share with Grandma!

Now I'm not real into the spooky side of Halloween but there is just something about that house that makes me want to create a spooky night card.

Again the layout is super simple. I sponged the sky and the moon with my sponge daubers and it didn't take long for it to look spooky!
Supplies: House of Haunts Stamp Set; Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White card stock; Cast a Spell Designer Series Paper; Basic Black, Summer Sun, Going Grey, and Night of Navy Classic Ink Pads; and Sponge Daubers.

My Grateful Card is a total case. I was blog hopping from one blog to the next when I somehow stumbled upon this card. Now
I just wish I could remember where it was I saw it. Anyway I had wanted to use this stamp set for my class and the card was so perfect so I recreated it. I slightly changed it but the layout is copied. Sorry, I'm not always very original.
Cutting out those little leaves was a little time consuming but it was worth it. I wish there was a punch that went along with it.

Supplies: Falling Leaves Stamp Set; Bright Blessings Stampin' Around Wheel; Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Kraft, and Soft Suede card stock; Versa Mark, Soft Suede, and Close to Cocoa Ink Pads; Big Shot and the Hearts and Brackets Die.
One of my newest Stamp Sets from the Holiday Mini Catalog is the Gifts of the Earth Stamp Set. My favorite season is probably Fall, I just wish California had more of a true Fall season so when I saw this stamp set I just had to have it. This stamp set is perfect for coloring.
Again I went with a simple layout but the coloring does take a little while so its best when having my classes to have simple layouts when the card is going to take some time to color.
Supplies: Gifts of the Earth Stamp Set; Water Color Pencils, Blender Pens; Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Really Rust, and Very Vanilla card stock; Chocolate Chip Ribbon; Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper

Last but not least was my Christmas card design. A warning must be put out that when tying the elastic cord you may become a little frustrated. Remember it is elastic! It stretches so make sure to use a piece that is big enough and go to work on those little bows. Everyone in class said this card took the longest because of those bows. At least they didn't have to cut out those ornaments because of the wonderful new punch in the mini catalog!
Supplies: Delightful Decorations Stamp Set; Real Red and Very Vanilla card stock; Chocolate chip, Glorious Green, and Real Red Classic Ink Pads; Ornament Punch; Elastic Silver Cord, Sleigh Bells Ribbon; Merry Moments Designer Series Paper.
My next Class will be held on National Card Making Day, October 3rd. We will be making 20 Christmas Cards. I will be posting pictures with in a day or two so check back to see them. make sure to RSVP your spot because space is limited!

Halloween

Last night was Stamp Club and we created three Halloween projects. We made a card with the Sweet Centers Stamp Set, a cute little coffin that holds a miniature candy bar inside, and a diaper fold pouch with some candies inside.

The diaper fold pouch is super easy to make. I used a 6x6 piece of Cast A Spell DSP, Batty for You stamp set, a small cello bag, and a piece of Pumpkin Pie ribbon.

For the Sweet Treat Cup card I used a tutorial by Mike found on his blog. Items used: Cast A Spell DSP, Sweet Treat Stamp Set, Sweet Treat Cups, Pumpkin Pie card stock, Perfect Plum card stock, Whisper White card stock, Basic Black ink pad, 1 3/4 Circle punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, and the 1 1/4 Circle Punch.

I found the coffin tutorial on a blog I stumbled upon. Here is the blog link www.symmetrystamps.com. It is a very cute little idea. I used the Batty for You Stamp Set, Basic Grey paper, Basic Black card stock, Whisper White card stock, Scallop circle punch, and the 1 1/4 Circle punch.

The weather is getting a little cooler, still hot but not as bad. I decided to put out my fall decorations next weekend. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and before I forget to mention this, we did get a few baby items this weekend since they were on sale. I got my polka dot stroller, play pen, and swing. Yea!!! Can't believe that this is the one the store decided to put on sale, perfect for convincing Eric! Thank you Grandma for your gift.

I'm Dreaming of Christmas

Today it is 106 degrees in Redlands, way too hot for my liking! My favorite season is Fall but I also love Christmas and all of the decorations, lights, and spirit of the season. I am looking forward to putting out my fall decoration soon and then replacing them with Christmas decor.

Today I thought I would share this Christmas card that I made for an organized swap for convention. When I saw the Dasher stamp in the under $10 section in the SU! Idea Book & Catalog I knew I needed to have it on my first order. Why would I need a Christmas stamp in July? I have no idea, but I got it anyway. It came in handy when I decided at the last minute to be involved in the swap. I chose not to go completely traditional with the colors but I had to include Real Red and the beautiful Real Red Polka-dot Ribbon. If you know me, you'll understand that I have a thing for polka-dots! I have been trying to convince Eric that Malachi will need the brown, baby blue, and cream polka-dot stroller & play pen but he is convinced that I only like the products because of the polka-dots. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little taste of Christmas on this hot August day.

Products Used:
Dasher Stamp Item #116816 $8.95, Taken with Teal, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, and Whisper White Card Stock, Chocolate Chip Ink Pad, 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, SU! Texturz Plate Backgrounds 1, Big Shot, Sanding Blocks.

Scrapbook Swap

Here is another one of my swaps that I created for convention. I added the pictures and a different title to this page but other than that its the same. This was for an organized 12x12 scrapbook page swap.

These pictures are of my cousin's little girl, Lizette from last Halloween. Grandma and I took the girls to the pumpkin patch to take pictures of them in their costumes. Lizette was mostly interested in picking up the sticks off the floor to eat. We propped her up against some pumpkins and snapped away with the camera. It has only taken me 10 months to scrapbook these pictures and I have plenty more! Someday...

Products used:
Stamp Set: Scary Skeleton, Arachnophobia (standard wheel)
Card Stock: Perfect Plum, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Old Olive, and Whisper White
DSP: Cast A Spell
Ribbon: 1 1/4 Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon
Big Shot: Hearts & Brackets, Naturally Serif

It's a boy!

Here is my baby boy! It was a long morning at the doctors and I almost had to leave with out knowing if it was a boy or a girl. Luckily the technician said he would try one more time before I left. He ended up getting a clear shot between the legs and now we know it is a boy. His name is Malachi Mason Castillo.

It was so amazing to see our baby. We got a hand wave and a peace sign from him. Seeing my baby move around in my tummy made me get all teary eyed. What a wonderful experience!

I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to have a baby. Eric and I tried to get pregnant for over three years and now it is finally happening. Somewhere around January 13th we will finally meet our lil guy. I already love him so much!

Thank you to everyone for sharing in our joy!

Home Sweet Home

I had a blast at the SU! Convention this past week but I sure did come home exhausted. The convention was full of excitement, business classes, announcements about new product and new ideas.

SU! is having a great hostess special in the month of September so if you are interested in having a in home demonstration for you and your friends contact me today to reserve your date!

The Holiday Mini Catalog will be available on September 1st. The catalog is full of great new products for the holidays, new Build A Bear stamp sets and die cuts for your Big Shot, and the new Digital Scrapbook software.

I roomed with some awesome ladies! I hope to call them life long friends because they were just so great and I am so happy to have met them. We had many laughs and late night talks.

The Chic Boutique Card is one of my card swaps from convention. I wish I would of had more swaps but I just didn't have the time to make them. As it was, I made this card the morning I was leaving. It is simple but I like it.

I used the Wellness Wishes stamp set to make this cute little Tea Bag holder. This is a stamp club project for this month. I am totally loving the wide stripped ribbon. I have used it on many projects already and I already need a new spool. I would hate to wish that someone would be sick but I do want to give this project to someone. I will just have to wait and it may come in handy sometime soon.

Tomorrow I will be going to the doctors for my 18 week sonogram, I am so excited to find out if I am having a boy or a girl. I truly have to special feelings that would make me believe it is one or the other. I just keep thinking that its a 50% chance for either one. One more day and I will be shouting it from the roof tops! I will probably be sending out mass text messages, emails, and blogging about it. Talk to you tomorrow.

I have wanted the Wanted Stamp Set for a very long time and I finally have it. I made these two simple cards this morning. They are very much the same card but on one of the cards I tore the Kraft Paper and on the other one I scuffed the Kraft Paper. I think I like the torn look better.

I also cased a scrapbook page with this Stamp Set. I didn't have time to take pictures and upload it this morning but I will definitely have to real soon.

Let Freedom Ring

I created a 4th of July layout this past weekend. One of my customers had called and asked if I could come up with a 2 page scrapbook page for her and her friends to make. I did venture out of SU! a little with a strip of patterned paper that I found at a local scrapbook store and I did die cut some letters with some Quickutz alphabets but other than that it is all Stampin' Up! card stock, ink, punches, and stamps.

I used someones scrapbook page as my inspiration for this page but I don't remember where I was when I saw something that sparked my imagination. If I can find it I will give the person credit because they truly helped me with getting started on this project.

Now I need to remember my camera when I go to the University of Redlands firework show on the 4th. It is our tradition to go every year and this year won't be any different. This year I am just a step ahead of my self since I have a scrapbook page done.

I am excited that tomorrow is July 1st and the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog will be available and I can place my first order for some new items. My wish list gets longer and longer every time I look through the new book. This Catalog will last a complete year so I have some time to get everything I want from it.

Have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!

Embrace Life

I haven't used this stamp set in a while but I think it is a great set. I have so many flower sets and I keep telling myself not to buy any more but then a new one comes out that I just can't resist. This isn't a new one and I've had this stamp set for almost a year but it just proves that no matter what you can always pull out these flower sets and make a great card.

I don't make a lot of square cards but I do love the square look. Although it cost more to mail then a standard card sometimes it is just worth it.

I am so glad today is Thursday because that means we are one day closer to Saturday. My day to sleep in. Although I have decided that I either need to clean out my closet or clean up my craft room this Saturday before I go to my sister Klarissa's grad party. My sisters are looking forward to seeing what clothes I might be getting rid and I am looking forward to a good weekend.

Sneak Peak

Last week I received my box of preview items form the new Idea Book & Catalog that will be released July 1st. The first thing I pulled out of the box and flipped through was the new catalog. I love it! I can't wait to share it with everyone.

Well I was either to busy or just to tired to play with my new stuff last week so I got up early this morning to make a quick card and this is what I came up with. I can't wait to work with this set a little more. I just love the bird and the new In Colors are beautiful. They remind me of colors I loved when I was a kid. They look a little darker in this picture than they actually are.

I am 10 weeks pregnant this week and I am hoping that my nausea goes away after I reach my 12 weeks so that I will feel more up to stamping. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

Items Used:
Wings of Friendship Hostess Stamp Set
Crushed Curry Card stock & Stampin' Write Marker
Melon Mambo Card Stock & Stampin' Write Marker
Bermuda Bay Card Stock & Stampin' Write Marker
Whisper White Card Stock
Versamark Ink Pad
Scallop Oval Frame Bigz Die
Scallop Circle Punch & Large Oval Punch

Great Friend

I am so sad that Baja Breeze will no longer be available after this month. It has to be one of my all time favorite colors. Although I am super excited about receiving my new In-Color items, if only the SU! would send me confirmation that my items are on their way.

I have been lagging on making anything since this pregnancy thing is kicking me in the rear. I feel nauseous all the time and I am so tired. This week I had to make sure and push myself to create since I have a class on Saturday.

I created this card for my Card Class. I decided I was going to use all of my mini-catalog stamp sets so we can use them one more time before they are no longer available. That is unless they make it into the new Catalog that will be coming out in July.

Hope you enjoyed my card, have a great weekend.

Items used: Great Friend Stamp Set, En Francis Background Stamp, Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey, and Whisper white card stock/ink, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, and Slot Punch.

Wicked Challenge

I decided to participate in the May Wicked Demo Challenge. Qbee's Quest is the host this month. Hop on over to her blog to see her samples.

The first challenge was to use the color combination of Baja Breeze, So Saffron, and Ruby Red that was given by Qbee's Quest.

I created this scrapbook with those colors. I used the Great Friend Stamp set , the Sweet Slumber Designer Series Paper, the Daisy die cut with my big Shot, Scallop edge punch, Corner Punch, So Saffron Ribbon, and a Baja Breeze Corduroy button. Over all I am very happy with this page. I used it as one of the projects at this month's stamp club.

The second Challenge was to use Qbee's Quest pattern to make this cute butterfly box that coordinates with the exclusive SU! Sizzix Beautiful Butterflies die cut.

I printed the pattern on Baja Breeze Card stock, cut it out and stamped the Manhattan flower stamp randomly all over the box. I then sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink. I cut the butterfly with my Big Shot and sponged the edges and tied craft ribbon around and glued it to the box. Simple and cute!

For the third Challenge we were to use Qbee's Quest card sketch.

I just realized I left out one part of the card sketch. Oh well it is close enough.

The card base is Kraft, I used Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White for the other layers. I randomly stamped the Manhattan flowers in Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, and Sahara Sand on Whisper White. I stamped the large flower on Baja Breeze 3 times and cut it out and layered different areas. It is hard to tell in the picture but the dimension really makes the flower pop. I also sponged the edges of the layers of the flower.

Well those are my Wicked projects. Hope it inspires you to create today!
